Ouch...My Aching Head...

Most people who know me well, remember a time when I had a migraine so bad that I couldn't do...anything.  I used to suffer from migraines at least 2x a month.  They weren't just headaches. They were events that stopped my life.  I couldn't do anything except lay in my dark bedroom with a cool cloth on my head and hope I wouldn't throw up.  On 2 different occasions, I was driving home from work - on the 405 freeway ...and well yah...2x on my passenger seat floor....while driving...yah. Those were banner days. 

Well, now I usually don't get migraines at all...I think some of the reasons for this are pretty simple:

  • I stay hydrated - drink a ton of water.
  • I stay away from sugar - well, for the most part, but when I do I can actually feel a headache starting.
  • I don't eat drive thru food...at all...the one time I did several months back...you guessed it, I got a headache.  
  • I do stress relieving activities like exercise, deep breathing, and pilates.  Now I'm starting to do yoga to really get rid of my neck tension.
There are some other steps I've taken -- without using the prescribed meds from my doctor to get rid of my headaches.

Anyways, that's my headache rant of the day.  Take care of yourself and find what works for you.
